Russell, well said. I agree and think that the Weldon Library is one of the cornerstones of downtown. One of the questions asked by the coordinators at the meeting was what do we consider to be the anchor establishments of our downtown area. The library was certainly included in the answers given. We have such a treasure right here, not to mention, one of the most beautiful buildings in the entire downtown area! As a matter of fact, you just reminded me of a great shot I took with my phone last week of the arched window in the entrance of the library. It is my phone screensaver. I am going to download it and add to the post. Thanks.

Maybe I'm a little biased, but how about the fact that we have a great library downtown for a small town! A conference/community room that gets used by groups nearly every day, programs for all ages from lapsits for toddlers to programs for teens to book clubs and computer class for adults. All this, and lots of FREE materials to borrow for entertainment and to be life-long learners.

We are sooo happy about the new tax credit for previous owners. We've been looking for a while now and trying to buy a short sale after selling our other home.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it. Does it feel that you are about to jump on a slip and slide toward Dec. 25th too? Every year, I say I am going to relax and try to breathe through it. This year, I am going to practice what I preach.

Hey Leslie, Dad and Robert Overton built the first house in Green Hills for Cliff and Virginia Weldon through their construction company called Overton Construction. You had to get there by driving through Parish Rd. because Weldon Drive did not yet come from N.Lindell St. They also built the next house in the neighborhood for the Sloans which is the first house on the right on Weldon after turning off of Parish.
You are right about it being a great place to live!
